Nazi Taktakishvili, BA student of International Relations program of Sabauni. She studied Fall semester of 2019-2020 at Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University in Warsaw within FUCE Grant program. She shared her experience by answering the questions.
Nazi, how did your expectations came true regarding this program?
I took part in the exchange program for the first time, and I had really high expectations. Now, I can say, that all my expectations came true, moreover the reality exceeded my expectations even more.
What was the main benefit you have got from this program?
I can speak about the benefits I got from this program endless, but I would like to highlight some. First of all, this is the professional development, further strengthening of student motivation and setting future plans and goals in the light of this. Also, one of the main benefits can be named the familiarity and study of core values of the European education.
Which personal skills have you improved with the help of this program?
I think, that the main skills, that all the students, participating in the exchange programs have improved is to leave independent in the foreign country and foreign society. When you live abroad, of course sometimes face some problems, that should be solved by yourself, and this process helps you to develop personal skills and grow up.
Which study courses / subject offered by UKSW would you single out and why?
I would like to highlight “Studies on Individual Decision Making in Modern East-Central Europe”. As I am a student international relations program, this course was very interesting for me, because it was focused on the democratic and legal norms, that strengthen the Europe.
What will you miss most?
What I miss the most is the multicultural environment at the hosting university, learning English, and of course, the countless number of foreign friends with whom I have had a fruitful and at the same time fun semester.
Could you compare the Georgian and Polish student’s life?
I think, that the difference between the student’s life in Georgia and in Poland is really big. This is caused by the difference between the educational system. Another difference I can name is wide range of opportunities that the European citizen are given.
What are the advantages of participating in exchange programs? Why the students should participate in a similar program?
The list of the advantages is really long, but I highlight some important ones: the opportunity to study and getting familiar with European education, the opportunity to live and study in a foreign environment, where you can present your culture and values. I think, it is essential for all students to participate in exchange programs in order to discover new skills in themselves and develop the existing ones.
Your recommendations for the students, who want to apply for exchange programs…
My recommendation for the students who want to participate in a similar project is a brief, though a bit difficult to implement. Use all the possibilities you are given, don’t be afraid of barriers that you inevitably encounter, don’t be afraid of your own mistakes, on the contrary, learn from them and remember: if you really want to achieve your goals and you are doing your best for it, Sabauni will definitely give you this possibility.

If there was not this program, I would not be able to get so huge experience and benefits in a short period, that I got from the FUCE scholarship program. For this I would like thank my home university, host University and FUCE board, that gave me this wonderful opportunity.
