About the Faculty
The mission of the Faculty of Theology of Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University is to prepare students for employment in their profession, so that they will be able to realize their qualifications in a different cultural, ecclesial and social environment. The goal of the University is for students to realize themselves on the one hand, regarding to the Christian theology, and on the other hand, to religious-cultural and social activities in general.
Theology is the basic specialty of the University, because the historical existence of Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University (as an educational, structural unit) begins with the establishment of the Institute of Theology, Philosophy and Religion.
The Faculty of Theology is staffed by qualified lecturers and professors from various branches of the field. Lectures are conducted using modern achievements and researches in theology.
The faculty is often visited by foreign professors who give lectures about the various topics to students.
At the Faculty of Theology exist master's, and bachelor's programs, which are exclusive not only in Georgia, but also in the region, as accredited programs corresponding to international standards. From 2022, the PhD program of theology was launched in the doctoral school of the University, which is another confirmation of the high teaching and research level of our faculty.
Active participation of students in the educational processes of various European Universities is a priority for the Faculty of Theology. The faculty has various exchange and teaching programs with Polish, Slovakian, French, Greek and other European Universities at both student and academic level.
Every year, the faculty is actively involved in the University student conference.
At the Faculty of Theology actively conducts research activities. Every year faculty organizes a theological conference and one international conference. The faculty has published a number of books and collected volumes. In the faculty Biannual journal “Dialogi”, faculty students are also able to publish their own articles and translations.
The Faculty has an Institute of Theology and Philosophy, which has one of the main goals to be in a close cooperation with the students.
