“For me, the main benefit of exchange program that I have received and I can mention is Motivation. Everything else was the results of it. I mean, that I understood better the importance of Theology in my interests and I was once again convinced of the correctness of my choice. For the future theologian it is very important to see the viability of the environment in which he decided to work."
Giorgi Leluashvili, BA student of Theology spent Fall semester of 2019-2020 at Cardinal Stefan Wyzsynski University in Warsaw studied at faculty of Theology within FUCE scholarship program. Giorgi shares his experiences:
“For me, the main benefit of exchange program that I have received and I can mention is Motivation. Everything else was the results of it. I mean, that I understood better the importance of Theology in my interests and I was once again convinced of the correctness of my choice. For the future theologian it is very important to see the viability of the environment in which he decided to work.
Another benefit of exchange program is personal skills’ improvement. Environment, which “push to you” to be in active communication with foreign people, speak in foreign language systematically, build the network of new contacts, work on your disadvantages. As a result, you become more realized person, than before.
I would say, that I was lucky at the University, as the Theology is one of the old and main field of study at UKSW. Consequently, each single day spent at the host university was interesting and new, which is due to highly qualified professors. Also, I have to mention the variety of the study courses. I had the possibility to attend some courses, which are not available at my home university, e.g. “Christianity in Asia”, professor who leaded this course lived in Asia for ages, have done research the characteristics of Asia-Pacific as the specific ground for the Christianity.
Now, at the end of my mobility, when I compere the student life in Georgia and Poland, I have to highlight the advantages of European Teaching methodology, that implies critical study of issues, independent analyze, seeking the different ways in the research. Consequently, novelty is the main point against the monotonous, boring student life. It is worthy to mention the pleasant atmosphere of relationship between the student and professor: free, without barriers, partnership where there is no separation.
Exchange program provides the excellent opportunity to the World, trough the youth, to build a peaceful, tolerant and harmonious society which begins with small environment where the students exist. They know better what it being foreigner, acceptance of different, stand it. They have the skills for easy adaptation, know foreign languages and experiences. Gained experience will help them to move forward.
Students, who want to take part in the exchange program, have to use all the possibilities. Even one semester, spent abroad will be the best practice / motivation to continue study abroad, to get acquainted foreign culture, language and the people.
In conclusion, I would like to express my gratitude to my University, Sabauni and the Federation of European Catholic Universities (FUCE) for giving me this wonderful opportunity to experience all abovementioned.
