Tamar Namgaladze
The University of Lumsa (Italy)
Tamar Namgaladze, MA student of Law faculty, spent Fall semester of 2022 -2023 academic year at the University of Lumsa (Rome, Italy) within Erasmus+ ICM program.
Tamar, how your expectations regarding this exchange program was justified?
Firstly, I would like to express my gratitude to Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University for such possibility, as this exchange program was one of the best decisions of my life and irreplaceable experience, that not only met but exceeded my expectations.
What was the main benefit from this program for you?
Friends I made through the exchange program and would not have had the opportunity to meet them otherwise.
Which personal skills did this program help you improve?
The strength of character, the sense of independence that will always strengthen my back - there is nothing that cannot be overcome
Which professional skills did this mobility help you improve?
Being abroad and using a foreign language on a daily basis, both academically and in everyday life, gave me quite a lot of practical experience. I think it was necessary for me and my career advancement.
Of the subjects you studied there, which courses did you enjoy the most? and why?
As part of the exchange program, I had the opportunity to attend the subject - "The art of negotiations" delivered by an Irish professor. This subject was quite different from the subjects I have learned so far, as it was not focused on the legal part, but taught us the psychological, linguistic and procedural features of negotiations, within which I was exposed to a number of interesting theories and practical tasks.
If there was a study course that you took abroad, and if it wasn't for this exchange program, you wouldn't have taken it in Georgia...
To tell the truth, there was no course that Sabauni could not or did not offer to students, but it was really interesting to study international law and other practical subjects based on the experience and opinions of professors from EU member countries. For me, as a citizen of Georgia and a student whose country wants to join the European Union, getting to know the ideology and experiences of the professors of the European Union country, was extremely important.
What will you miss the most?
Perhaps I will miss the lightness that comes with student life in Europe - you and your desire to develop remain in the whole world. I will also miss the friends I made abroad, who occupied a very important place in my heart.
Compare student life in Georgia and abroad...
The pace of life in Europe is not as fast as here in Georgia, where students have less time to find themselves, as they have to adjust to the daily routine. It's not like that in Europe, time there is relatively different, much easier than here...
Your recommendation to other students who wish to participate in the exchange program.
The exchange program is a unique opportunity to challenge yourself, both personally and academically. I definitely recommend participating in the exchange program to a student who wants to face new challenges that he cannot do here in Georgia. I would advise those who wish to participate to believe in themselves, put the documents in order and never bring the application process to the deadline.
Complete the sentence: If it weren't for this exchange program, I would...
"I would be no better than I was yesterday"
