8th International Symposium:
Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University hosted the 8th International Symposium titled "Catholic Heritage in Georgia." The 2025 symposium took place on June 17-18 and was dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the death of Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani. Accordingly, a significant portion of the presentations focused on Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani and his work.
The two-day symposium was divided into five sessions, during which participants had the opportunity to hear interesting presentations not only about Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani but also about information preserved in various historical sources concerning Catholic missionaries in Georgia, the legacy of Georgian Catholic clergy and laypeople, sources found in the historical archive of Propaganda Fide regarding Georgian kings, and the current state of the Catholic Church in Georgia.
The annual symposium aims to raise public awareness about the role of Catholic figures and the Catholic Church in Georgia’s development. The presentations delivered at the symposium are published in a collected volume, available both in print and electronically.
