Basic Life Support (BLS)
On May 27, 2025, within the framework of the international conference “Challenges in Medical Education 2025,” a practical workshop on Basic Life Support (BLS) was held at Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University.
The workshop was conducted under the guidance of a certified instructor of the American Heart Association (AHA), Nino Kasradze (MD, MPH, AHA BLS Instructor).
The project utilized special mannequins, including both adult and pediatric models. Participants were given the opportunity to practically learn key emergency response skills, including:

Proper chest compression technique

Pulse assessment technique

Initial evaluation of vital signs

Sequence of actions during emergency situations
The workshop played a significant role in enhancing the practical skills of students and participating professionals, increasing their preparedness to respond effectively in real-life emergency situations. This initiative represents another step by the university toward providing high-quality, practice-oriented medical education.
Training – Workplace-Based Assessment of Clinical Competence and Professional Development
On June 15, 2025, lecturers of the Medicine Program at Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University successfully completed training in one of the most crucial areas of modern medical education — Workplace-Based Assessment (WBA) of clinical competence and professional development. The training covered key assessment methods such as CBD (Case-Based Discussion), DOPS (Direct Observation of Procedural Skills), and Mini-CEX (Mini Clinical Evaluation Exercise).
The training was conducted under the guidance of internationally experienced expert Dr. Muhammad Shabbir (MBBS, FCPS, CHPE, DHPE, ESME Assessment), who serves as an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at the College of Medicine, Shaqra University (Shaqra, Saudi Arabia).
This initiative represents a significant step in the continuous professional development of the university’s academic staff and will substantially contribute to the more effective and targeted assessment of students’ clinical skills, ultimately enhancing the quality of the program and graduates’ professional readiness.
