Erasmus+ KA2 Institutional Development Project – ENHANCE-GSL
With the participation of Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University, the Erasmus+ KA2 Institutional Development Project “Enhancing Sustainable Development Opportunities through Community Engagement: The Cases of Georgia and Sierra Leone” (ENHANCE-GSL) has been funded.
The project aims to strengthen the active role of universities in society, focusing on community engagement. Drawing on the experiences of Georgia and Sierra Leone, it seeks to develop adaptable strategies for community involvement based on diverse social contexts.
The overall goal of the project is to reinforce the connection between higher education institutions and their surrounding communities in both countries. Key outcomes include the development of relevant skills, enhancement of resources, and establishment of a specialized unit within universities to ensure the creation and maintenance of long-term and meaningful relationships with local communities.
Within the framework of the project, a methodological guide will be developed and made available in both English and Georgian.The project duration is two years (2024–2026).
The consortium includes two Georgian universities — the University of Georgia (coordinator) and Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University; two universities from Sierra Leone — the University of Makeni and the University of Sierra Leone; one Croatian university — the University of Rijeka; and one Slovak university — Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica.
From Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University vice rector, prof. Dimitry Gegenava, head of anti- discrimination law center, Tsisia Okropiridze and International Relations Manager, Shorena Parunashvili are involved in the project.
