Sabauni Graduates Participated in the Human Rights and Rule of Law (LLM) Program
Three graduates of Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University participated in a master's program specializing in Human Rights and the Rule of Law (LLM), organized by the Central European Academy and the University of Miskolc (Budapest, Hungary). The one-year program was conducted in a hybrid format. Students attended lectures online and took part in workshops and international conferences in person.
"This program gave me much more than academic knowledge—it shaped my professional perspective and deepened my personal commitment to justice and the rule of law. Studying human rights within a European academic context allowed me to directly explore comparative legal systems and the evolving jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights.
The program emphasized critical thinking, practical analysis, and the importance of balancing legal theory with real-world impact - elements that are essential for any lawyer working in the field of human rights," said Mariam Kekelidze, a graduate of Sabauni.
The one-year master's program was part of an international project intended for students from various European and non-European countries. Courses were delivered by both local and international professors and practicing professionals.
"This program turned out to be particularly interesting and valuable for me. The studies were conducted in a hybrid format: alongside online lectures, several intensive seminars were held in Hungary, where I had the opportunity to meet students from various European countries, including both EU member and candidate countries.
I also had the chance to attend presentations by prominent specialists from the European Court of Human Rights, the International Criminal Court, and other international institutions.
During the program, we discussed current issues related to national identity, human rights, and the rule of law.
This program gave me the opportunity not only for professional but also for personal growth. Moreover, I made many friends, built valuable international connections, and exchanged diverse opinions, perspectives, and experiences. These interactions further solidified my belief that cultural diversity and dialogue are crucial in the modern world," said Mariam Sabedashvili, a Sabauni graduate.
"This program was very interesting and diverse. I met many people from different countries, most of whom are successful lawyers, judges, lecturers, or human rights defenders. Lectures were delivered by professionals in the field. Additionally, two conferences were held during the program, where official representatives from several countries, ombudspersons, professors, and judges gave presentations. Perhaps the most remarkable were the lectures/presentations delivered by judges from Strasbourg, Luxembourg, and the International Criminal Court," said Tsisia Okropiridze, a doctoral student at Sabauni.
