International Scientific week at Sabauni
On November 13-17, 2023, the second international scientific week was held at Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University, within the framework of which the university hosted professors from France, America, Poland, Bulgaria, Ukraine and Jordan.
The week began on Monday, November 13, with an official reception of guests, which was attended by representatives of the French Embassy in Georgia, the French Ambassador's Counselor for Cultural Affairs and the Director of the French Institute in Georgia, Ms. Camille Nora, and the Attaché of University and Scientific Cooperation, Ms. Aleksandra Richter, and the representative of the Polish Embassy, Mr. Mariusz Pietrshak, attended along with their foreign colleagues. The guests were welcomed by the Rector of the University, Fr. Akaki Chelidze, and the Vice-Rector of the University, Prof. Dimitry Gegenava spoke extensively about the university's activities and future plans.
On November 14, a training session was held for the academic staff of Sabauni "Innovative methods of pedagogy: how to increase student engagement in the learning process using the flipped classroom approach" The workshop was led by Professor Jean-Charles Caillez, Vice-President for Innovation at the Catholic University of Lille. The training was held within the framework of the first international scientific conference "Societies in Transition" organized by the Faculty of Social Sciences, which was held on November 15.
Next day, on November 16, the 6th International Scientific Conference in Development Studies was organized by the Faculty of Business and Technology of Sabauni and the Institute of development studies. The main topic for 2023 was "Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals: Research and Development".
During the week, Professor Piotr Musiewicz from Academia Ignatianum in Krakow held a public meeting on the topic: From Communism to Democracy: Political and Social Transformation in Central Europe after 1989. Case of Poland. Professor Musiewicz was visiting Sabauni with the Erasmus+ staff mobility program.
In addition, the foreign guests met with the representatives of the faculties and discussed the forms of future cooperation.
