Slovak professor at Sabauni within Erasmus+
Pavol Labuda, professor of Catholic University in Ruzomberok visited Sulkhan-Saba orbeliani University within Erasmus+ ICM program from 23rd May till 27th May of 2022.
Professor delivered lectures for students from faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. He also held an public lecture for Sabauni students and professors on the topic: A Conceptual Analysis of the Potentiality Argument in Favor of a Human Embryo’s Right to Life”. “It was a great opportunity to meet new colleagues and to discuss some interesting (and not only scholarly relevant, but also culturally important) topics. I am also very grateful for having an opportunity to deliver my lecture on bioethics to a group of law-students and discuss with them some aspects of the issue I have not discussed with students yet”- he mentioned.
During his visit Slovak professor met members of faculty humanities and social sciences and discussed the future cooperation between the universities.
“I think that the most valuable thing of Erasmus+ mobility is to find out what the differences between mine and some different cultures (and systems of education) are, because only then we can overcome them and start to understand each other. Our understanding of different cultures arrives in steps and the best way to start to understand different cultures and their different conceptual schemes is by acquainting ourselves with the outputs of their arts and letters. This seems to me to be very important part of building the bridges of understanding across the cultures in the time of rapidly ongoing globalization, especially when you take into consideration that our cultural (and our value) differences are deeply rooted in the communities we live in and that our communities are not so ready to follow the mad tempo of economic globalization”- professor said.
Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University has been involved in Erasmus+ ICM program since 2015 year. EU program aims to support student and staff mobility between the Universities from,Eu and Non Eu countries.
