Representative of the University of Athens’ International Relations Office Visits Sulkhan- Saba Orbeliani University
Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University hosted Katya Temperekidou, a representative from the Department of European and International Relations of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, as part of an administrative staff mobility program. During her visit, she met with Shorena Parunashvili, International Relations Manager of Sabauni.
The meetings were mainly held in the format of job shadowing, where both sides discussed the management processes and challenges related to student and staff mobilities.
“My personal experience from this mobility was very enriching. The main benefit I gained was the opportunity to focus on staff mobility while also discussing ways to increase student participation in future projects. Through open exchanges, we compared similarities and differences in managing mobilities, partner search, and dissemination, which gave me practical insights into improving my own work. I was also impressed by how formal, well-structured, and well-informed the work of the host IRO is, especially for a university of its size.
The professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and expertise of the staff were truly inspiring and made the experience both productive and motivating” – Katya Temperekidou.
The Greek guest also met with Professor Gocha Barnovi, Dean of the Faculty of Theology, who is himself a graduate of the University of Athens. During the meeting, they discussed the ongoing Erasmus+ project and the procedures for new project applications. They also agreed to initiate new Erasmus+ projects for both staff and students, as well as to explore participation in other international programs.
“In my view, the key advantage of Erasmus+ mobility programs for both staff and students lies in the opportunity to broaden their perspectives through international experience. For students, this means developing intercultural awareness, adaptability, and independence, while enhancing their academic and professional profiles. For staff, the program offers a platform to exchange best practices, strengthen professional competencies, and build institutional partnerships that support long-term collaboration. Ultimately, Erasmus+ mobility fosters a culture of openness, innovation, and mutual understanding, benefiting both individuals and their institutions,” — added Katya Temperekidou.
The Greek representative’s mobility took place from 22 to 26 September 2025, funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Commission.
