Leadership Program in Rome
From July 6 to 10 of this year, the University of Notre Dame in Rome hosted the Advanced Catholic Leadership Program, which brought together 21 female managers representing the member universities of the Catholic universities Partnership (CUP).
This year’s theme was “Leadership of Care”, and for five days, the participating women discussed the challenges and achievements faced by female managers in Catholic universities.
Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University was represented in the program by Chancellor Natia Sheqiladze, Head of the Quality Assurance Office Nino Tsikvadze, and International Relations Manager Shorena Parunashvili.
The program included presentations by specially invited key note speakers and was held in the format of panel discussions, group work, and experience sharing. Keynote speakers included Sr. Helen Alford, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas; Mary Gallagher, Dean of Keough School of Global Affairs at the University of Notre Dame; and Susan Kepler-Schlesinger, Director of the Austrian Cultural Forum in New York.
The leadership program also featured cultural activities. Participants visited the Vatican Museums, where a meeting with Barbara Jatta, the Director of the Museums, was arranged. They also toured the Basilica of Saint Clement, where they were guided through its history by Ingrid Rowland, Professor Emerita from the Department of Architecture and History at Notre Dame Rome.
