ENHANCE-GLS Project Working Meeting Held in Sierra Leone
On 20–23 October 2025, representatives of Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University - Vice-Rector Professor Dimitry Gegenava and International Relations Manager Shorena Parunashvili - took part in a working visit to the University of Sierra Leone in Freetown. The visit was organized within the framework of the Erasmus+ KA2 institutional cooperation
project “Enhancing Community Engagement for Sustainable Development: The Cases of Georgia and Sierra Leone (ENHANCE-GLS)”, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
The three-day meeting gathered project partners to review the progress of ongoing activities, present the Manual and interim report, and discuss the implementation plan for the next project phase.
As part of the visit, an international conference titled “Universities in Action: Global Perspectives on University–Community Partnerships” was held, bringing together
representatives from partner universities, as well as delegates from Universitate Africa, Caritas Africa, and other local non-governmental organizations.
The ENHANCE-GLS project is a two-year initiative aiming to raise awareness of community engagement and enhance the role of universities in promoting sustainable development. Within the project, a Manual on community engagement has already been developed in both English and Georgian, and staff training sessions have been conducted to strengthen institutional awareness. A Training of Trainers (ToT) is planned for May 2026, and the project will conclude with a final conference in October 2026.
