Lecturers and students of Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University participated in the international scientific conference
Academic lecturer of Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University (Mariam Eliadze) and students (Lia Gelashvili, a student of the master program of Public Administration; Albina Agapishvili, a student of the undergraduate program of International Relations; Iviko Vasilevi, a student of the undergraduate program of Psychology; Tsitsia Megutnishvili, a student of the undergraduate program of Law) participated in the international scientific conference held within the framework of the international research project on the topic: Threats to Democracy: Nationalism, Populism, Extremism and Christianity's Response to Them.
The third stage of International research project Threats to Democracy: Nationalism, Populism, Extremism and Christianity's Response to Them, was held in Paris (France) on June 26-29, where conference papers were presented by students and panel discussions were moderated by professors.
The goal of the international research project is:
- actualization of threats to democracy as one of the important topics and presentation of its problem in theological, political, legal, cultural and economic aspects
- Analyzing these processes from a positive and negative point of view, taking into account the current situation in Georgia, Poland, Germany and Hungary
- Involvement of students/young researchers in the scientific-research project in the international community and more in-depth interest;
- Study/acquaintance with the history, political and religious features of the foreign countries of the project participants and establish intercultural relations.
The organizers of the international research project are: John Paul II Pontifical University of Krakow (Poland), Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University (Georgia) and Erfurt University (Germany).
The international research project dedicated to the study of threats and challenges to democracy was implemented in three stages between December 2022 and June 2023 in Poland, Germany and France, where the presented conference reports will be published in the journal of the international research project.
