Representatives of Sabauni visited Valahia University of Targoviste
Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University Vice-Rector, Professor Dimitry Gegenava, Dean of the Faculty of Theology, Professor Gocha Barnovi, and Assistant Professor Guram Lursmanashvili, visited the Valahia University of Târgoviște in Romania as part of the Erasmus+ academic and administrative personnel mobility.
Representatives of Sabauni, together with colleagues from the host university, held a round table meeting on the topic “The Georgian Church in the 19th and 20th Centuries” where they discussed the historical and theological aspects of the development of the Georgian Orthodox Church in the context of political and cultural transformation. The event was attended by students and academic staff of the Faculty of Theology and Education, who participated in the discussion with great interest.
The representatives of Sabauni were hosted by the Vice-Rectors of the University of Vallahia, Professor Rev. Prof. univ. dr. Marian Vâlciu and Prof. univ. dr. Henri Coanda. Also, the Dean of the Faculty of Theology, Professor Stefan Florea, and representatives of the International Relations Office.
The meetings discussed cooperation in strengthening the internationalization of joint projects and research. Also, the desire was expressed to co-supervise doctoral theses and deepen cooperation within the framework of the Erasmus+ programs.
“I had meetings with professors and teachers, with whom we discussed possible future joint projects, their cooperation with our journal "Dialogue". We also expressed a desire to promote the involvement of our academic staff in international conferences organized by our universities” - Gocha Barnovi.
During the visit, the representatives of the Sabauni were hosted by the Archbishop of Targovishte, His Holiness Metropolitan Nifon, with whom the importance of the church and university environment in the formation of a new generation in the spirit of unity, solidarity, peace and cooperation between peoples was emphasized.
The visit of the Sabun representatives took place within the framework of the Erasmus+ Ka171 international credit mobility program on March 9 -13 of this year.
