The 7th International Scientific Conference on Development Studies was held at Sabauni
On May 29, 2025, Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University hosted the 7th International Scientific Conference in Development Studies, organized by the Faculty of Business and Technology and the Institute for Development Studies. The theme of this year’s conference was “4E4W: Economic, Environmental, Ethical, and Education Transformations for Well-being.”
The conference brought together around 20 professors from 6 countries—including Georgia, Italy, Norway, Bulgaria, Slovenia, and Ukraine—representing partner universities. The discussions spanned a range of critical topics such as sustainable development, digital transformation, innovative educational models, environmental protection, and ethical challenges in today’s world.
The event was officially opened by Professor Akaki Cheidze, Rector of Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University, and Professor Dimitri Gegenava, Vice-Rector of the University. Welcoming remarks were also delivered by Professor Tamta Mikaberidze, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Technology, and Professor Nino Papachashvili, Director of the Institute for Development Studies.
The keynote address was delivered by Professor Gandolfo Dominici, Scientific Director of the Business Systems Laboratory (BSLab) and Professor at the University of Palermo (Italy). His presentation focused on the phenomenon of consumer resistance to sustainable consumption and the realities behind the so-called “green hype.”
Additionally, Professor Nino Papachashvili, Director of the Institute for Development Studies, presented on the topic “Catalysts of Care for Sustainable Development.”
The conference was attended by scholars, researchers, students, and invited guests. The event was a success and once again underscored the importance of international cooperation in the fields of development and education.
