Academic mobility of the head of the Law Clinic at the University of Cadiz
Ketevan Bakhtadze, head of the Law Clinic of Sabauni and a visiting lecturer at the Faculty of Law, was at the University of Cadiz in Spain under the Erasmus+ academic staff mobility program.
During the week, Ketevan Bakhtadze gave lectures on human rights, namely: “International Human Rights Standards and Institutional Accountability”, “Trauma-Informed Legal Assistance for Transgender Victims” and “The Best Interests of the Child in Cross-border Custody Proceedings”. In addition to the lectures, Keti Bakhtadze prepared readers for students on each topic.
“This mobility was important, first of all, for my professional knowledge, I am much more confident in a number of areas of activity and I have acquired skills that will be useful in my academic work. Perhaps the preparation of bilingual versions of presentations was especially interesting, because I had no such experience before. If our future cooperation takes place, I am sure that it will be useful, first of all, for the law clinic, because sharing the experience of universities will make clinical education much more effective.
Keti Bakhtadze met with her Spanish colleague, Maria Sanchez, outside the lectures, with whom they agreed to deepen cooperation in the future, especially between law clinics.
“I very much hope that as a result of the project, a formalized academic partnership will be established between the Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University and University of Cadiz, which will include the institutionalization of pedagogical methodologies, the introduction of trauma-oriented practice protocols in Legal clinical education, joint research initiatives in the field of gender justice and the development of students' competences in the use of international human rights mechanisms, which will be measurable with specific indicators - Keti Bakhtadze"
Keti Bakhtadze's mobility at the University of Cadiz took place on March 10-14, 2025.
