Summer School ''European Humanism in the Making''
Students from Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University took part in a summer school held at the Catholic University of Lille on the theme ''European Humanism in the Making''.
The aim of the summer school is to raise awareness among young people about europhilia, European identity, and the values of the European Union, in response to Euroscepticism. The summer school program was structured around five themes:
1. The Contribution of History to European Consciousness
2. Literature, Art, Translation, and European Identity
3. European Enlightenment and Islamic Heritage
4. European Social Humanism
5. Creative Leadership and Civic Engagement in Action
''Participating in the FUCE summer school was a unique opportunity for me. Along with gaining new knowledge and information, I made many friends from different countries around the world and learned about their cultures, values, and perspectives. This experience once again made me reflect, as a citizen of Georgia, on just how important a role Europe, European values, and the European Union (EU) play in the development and strengthening of cooperation among other countries. I would especially like to highlight the professionalism of the lecturers and organizers, the interesting discussions, and the friendly atmosphere, which actively engaged every participant in the learning process. I am confident that the knowledge, experience, and international contacts gained through this program will be very valuable in the future, both academically and professionally. I am sincerely grateful for this opportunity and hope that many
more young people will have the chance to gain a similar experience in the future''- said Ana Buzaladze.
Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University was represented at the summer school by Ana Buzaladze, a student in the Bachelor's program in Law, and Tekla Buadze, a student in the Bachelor's program in Business Administration. The summer school was organized by the European Federation of Catholic Universities (FUCE) and took place from June 29 to July 3, 2026, at the Catholic University of Lille in France.
