On February 16-19 of 2025, a working meeting of the Erasmus+ KA2 CBHE institutional project “Enhancing Capacities for Sustainable Community Engagement: The Case of Georgia and Sierra Leone – ENHANCE_GSL” funded by the European Commission was held at the University of Rijeka (Croatia). Representatives of Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University also attended the meeting.
The three-day meetings were held in an intensive mode. The first day of the meetings was dedicated to introducing the participants, presenting the activities implemented by the participating universities in the areas of community engagement, and sharing the expectations of the participants from the meetings. The second day of the meetings was dedicated to the presentations of the European partners. Since the Croatian and Slovak universities involved in the project have quite extensive experience in planning/implementing community engagement activities, a large part of their presentations was devoted to this experience. Bojana Kulum from the University of Rijeka spoke about the integration of community engagement activities into the curriculum and the involvement of students in these activities. Alzbeta Gregorova-Brožmanova focused on the implementation of these activities at the institutional level.
On the third day, the participants summarized the meetings, discussed the progress of the activities planned within the project, set the dates of further meetings and deadlines for the tasks to be completed.
The meeting was held in a hybrid format, with representatives from Georgian and European universities physically attending the meeting, while representatives from Sierra Leonean universities were involved in discussions and presentations online.
