Professor of the faculty of Theology took part in the 24th international conference “

Vaja Vardidze, professor of the faculty of Theology participated in the international conference “The Role of Christians in the Process of European Integration” held in Poland, Krakow on the 20-21st September.

The topic of the two-days conference was "The New Shape of Europe" and was divided into four thematic panels, where invited experts, politicians and church representatives spoke about such topics as secularization, migration and the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Professor Sabauni took part in the panel "Has Europe Reconciled with the War?", where he expressed great support for the Ukrainian people and once again emphasized the importance of Europe's support for the Ukrainian people and not only the Ukrainian people.

A permanent part of the conference program was the "IN VERITATE" award Gala, awarded by the Bishop Tadeusz Pieronek Foundation, the main organizer of the conference, for outstanding attitude and achievements in combining European and Christian values”. The laureates of AD 2024 were: Herman Van Rompuy- former Prime Minister of Belgium (2008-2009) and President of the European Council (2009-2014) and Prof. Jerzy Buzek – former Prime Minister of Poland (1997-2001) and President of the European Parliament (2009-2012).  

At the beginning of the conference, the participants were welcomed by Rafał Budnik , President of the Management Board of the Bishop Tadeusz Pieronek Foundation, Andrzej Halicki , Vice-Chairman of the European People's Party Group in the EP, Dr Adam Jarubas , Co-Chairman of the Polish Delegation in the EPP Group in the EP, Rev. Dr Manuel Barrios Prieto , Secretary General of COMECE and  Dr Jan Olbrycht , Robert Schuman Foundation in Luxembourg.
